When Italian-born owner Salvatore Ercolano opened the first Villa Capri, he brought an immense treasure of restaurant experience. His goal was real Italian cuisine, fused with the styles of their hometown regions (Sal hailing from Capri).
Over 16 years later, Villa Capri’s popularity and growth are fueled by their constant dedication to authentic Italian cuisine, presented with elegance and style, warmed by friendly service.
Born on the Italian island of Capri, Sal emanates all the charm of his homeland. A seasoned restaurateur, Sal began his restaurant career at the age of 18, when he worked with a family-owned business. He landed in New York at 22, and served several years as manager of the infamous Mezza Luna in Manhattan and eventually Hong Kong’s Va Bene. He eventually made a home in San Diego where he started the Gaslamp Quarter’s successful and ZAGAT award-winning restaurants Bella Luna and Paper Moon.
Since then Salvatore has been the consummate restaurateur, establishing and growing Villa Capri Restaurants in Carmel Valley; as well as several Come On In! Cafes throughout San Diego County.
